I chose "scarcity of rainfall in Singapore"for the local issue that I explain ib class. In February Singapore faced dryest month on record. Singapore measured only 0.2 millimeters of rainfall last month and this is much lower than previous  low record which was 6.3 mm of rainfall. This rainfall shortge start on Janurary 13th. This casue water shortage in Singapore and Malaysia becasue they could not get portable water by desaltination.
  To solve this Problem I supose to imrprove the technology and start to make clean water from seawater by evaporation system. Singapore is surounded by ocean and there is a lot of seawater around the wprld so people may not be suffered from thirsty or dry. and store rainfall at the certain place for the dry days.
  I was interested in this issue because this is my first experience that the weather does not change for a while so that I wanted to know why and the feature of this weather condition. The gosssip from my acquaitance that poeple in malaysia faced on water shortage and in some places.

  In Singapore has another environmentproblem. I its Haze. it is a substance like a smoke which comes from Indonesia and pollute air every year. I am the one of the people who is  distturbed by it's smell and cough by nreath in the Haze. I could not stop cighing when I was walking out side on last Friday. they are not only the problem of the haze but also the worse sight is another issue. in the last year which records the most amount of the haze, I could not see the things well even they are in 100m away.
  To prevent this, Indonesia have to stop burning their farms and prevent to produce haze. Most of the haze is cause by the smoke of burning. I expect that raining is important to remove haxe from the air. However, on this year, there is less raining so that the haze are in the air a lot.
  I dicided to explain this becase  I wanted to know about it  and also it is good to know for the others.

  Drinking alchol and smoking under the 18 age is a huge problem in many countries including Singapore. There are many students who smoke or drink alchol and even this is a criminal for both who bought them and sell them. I think this occurs because seller, parent and teachers are not taking a responsibility enough. It may be easy to buy alchol or ciggarate and use them.
  To prevent this the government have to stop the way to buy them and shop have to check they are student or not. If people cannot get them of course they cannot use it. I have seen the poster that about the students below 18 cannot smoke and drink alchol. However I think there are only a few posters in Singapore.
  I chose this issue because it is huge for many countries and my mother country, Japan has same problem.
 

Frankenstein film

What I learn from the film "Frankenstein"

 SETTING
 By watching the film of "Frankenstein", I learned that the setting of the frankenstein is quite past because there is no car and instead of it people in the film was using the rickshaws and the some objects such as a book looks different from what I usually see. I think that the story takes place in Europe. the reason why I can say this is the fashion and the people does not looks like the asian and African. They were dress or suit and most of them has blond hair.

  CHARACTERS
 I felt that Frankenstein is deviating from the other students and the professors. He has different idea and opinion from others and Clerval was one of the little people who can understand him.


The differences and similarities between the book and film.

  SIMILARITIES
 There are some similarities between the film and the book.
- in both, the monster is created by Frankenstein with a dead body and use electricity.
- Clerval helps Frankenstein.
- Frankenstein abandon the monster because the monster was not good as he wanted to create.

DIFFERENCES
 There are a lot of differences and I think that it is more than the similarities. First the film was more detailed and including a story of Frankenstein's child hood. This makes audience to understand the relationship of Frankenstein and Elizabeth and what motivate Frankenstein to create a life. Im opinion this is more interesting than do not include this. However, the book exclude this and there are only a little flashback.
 The illness of Frankenstein's father is an incentive to decide to go to see Frankenstein. She tries to lead Frankenstein to go back to see his father. In the film the reason is different. She goes because Frankenstein does not reply her letter for a long time. I think is a bit of silly.
 There is difference of Clerval and Monster as well. In the book, the life comes to the monster in front of Clerval and Frankenstein with electricity from the lightning when Clerval and Frankenstein was arguing and also Frankenstein cannot expect when the experiment succeed. Clerval knows that Frankenstein is creating a life. Oppositely, in the film Clerval does not know about that the monster is created secretly and also I do not think that the weather was not storming, the lightning is not a necessary thing for him to end the experiment.

I learned many things about characters and setting by watching re-enactments.
 First I realized that Frankenstein is selfish and not not kind to others. on the play the play there was scene that Clerval and Frankenstein was talking about machine which move the hands with electricity. At that time Clerval does not know about what Frankenstein is doing and giving a support to Frankenstein, actually Frankenstein is ignore the Clerval's mind which is that Clerval want to help him. Also there was a play which was about when the monster is created. In this scene Frankenstein was exited because he succeed to create a life. However when he saw the monster, he thought that it is ugly and is not what he desire to make. After he realized that he run away and through the responsibility away.

 Secondly for the setting, It was serious and/ or anger mood is remained at Frankenstein's house and also where the Agathe and Felix are. from the acting of the scene when Clerval and Frankenstein was arguing beside the door. they are angry to tell there opinion to others. Frankenstein do not want to stop his experiment and Clerval do not. The performers voice was loud and sharp so I felt anger feeling from their voice. When I saw a scene about Agathe and Felix was talking, the acting was not like chatting and laughing. Also the last of this scene which Agathe becomes lonely and realized some one is watching her leads me to think she was scared.

I thik that it was good to see others' performance because I could know the characters feeling by the performance's mood.
